The WICCI Karnataka Yoga Council invited Arjun Arora, Founder of Sarveda, to their speaker series event to share insights into yoga startups, the journey of yoga entrepreneurs, and the future prospects for yoga businesses.
Arjun, an IIT Madras alumnus, shared his inspiring journey of intertwining his passions for yoga, music, and entrepreneurship. As the Founder of Sarveda, a young yoga startup, Arjun discussed the various facets of his life and career that led him to where he is today.
During his college years, Arjun focused on soul searching and absorbing yogic philosophy rather than just practising physical asanas. He explored the purpose of life, using yoga as a guiding light to navigate the inner aspects of his journey. His travels to various yoga ashrams played a significant role in his personal growth. Despite facing several challenges, his dedication and professional experiences helped him grow stronger. For Arjun, yoga is more than mere asanas; it’s a way of life and a journey to find one's true self.
Using his e-commerce experience, Arjun launched Sarveda to expand yoga’s influence beyond asanas and create a financially sustainable business. He met his wife, Saja, in a yogashram in Madurai, and together they conceived the idea of a yoga studio in Beirut. They noticed the potential of Indian-manufactured yoga products and aimed to bridge Ayurveda, yoga, and the digital world.
Arjun emphasized choosing a path that aligns with one's personality over wealth or fame. Despite initial financial instability, his passion for yoga helped him turn his hobby into a full-time career. Sarveda evolved to offer a wide range of services and products, connecting people from small districts to the global market. Arjun is of the view that genuine innovation and authenticity are key to engaging the audience while preserving yoga's essence.
After the COVID-19 pandemic, Arjun faced challenges like managing finances and balancing family needs. However, his passion for yoga and Sarveda kept him motivated. He also observes that while yoga's mediums may change, its fundamentals remain constant.
